Shocking Footage Reveals Instant Police Get Knifed in Ambush
A ranking policeman who rushed to the help of a partner that got attacked by a knifeman received the King's Commendation for Valor.
Sgt Tim Ansell struggled against 27-year-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he placed a blade to the throat of his colleague Sergeant Marc Foster.
Brown began the violence as the policemen and their third officer, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a motorist after a road collision in that location in mid-2023.
Brown knifed and cut both Sgt Ansell and Sergeant Foster before Police Constable Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a electric weapon.
"Policeman attacked," the constable stated over his communication device.
Bodyworn and vehicle camera footage made public by the force revealed Brown, wearing in dark clothing with a head covered, run up to Sgt Foster from the rear with a weapon pointed forward.
He struck the officer who tripped and fell to the street, before Sergeant Ansell stepped in and tried to wrestle him to the ground although being continually attacked with the blade.
PC Wolstencroft drew his Taser and awaited a open target, bringing the fight to an conclusion.
Sgt Ansell can be heard to say: "Can I get something on my throat now, I've been stabbed in the throat."
Sergeant Ansell suffered multiple lacerations to his neck and additional injuries to his arms and torso, whereas Sgt Foster received cut injuries.
Officials reported Sgt Foster employed his hands to control his colleague's bleeding prior to paramedics reached the scene.
This most recent honor arrives after the law enforcement team won departmental Bravery Awards in fall 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the local union branch in spring 2024.
They were also awarded a North West Valor Recognition in summer 2024.
"The efforts of each policeman ultimately saved each other and resulted in no civilians endured any injuries."
Brown was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order in April 2024, per officials.
